Gidgette’s Gotcha Day

12 years ago, I carried Gidgette home from my vet’s office in Ulsan, South Korea. They were going to put her to sleep because nobody wanted her. Korea isn’t a big cat country to begin with. But Gidgette had an unusually small head for her body and she was cross eyed. I couldn’t let them put that sweet little girl to sleep.

Here she is on the day I brought her home…

How did she get her name? A friend saw a picture of Gidgette on my computer keyboard and said, “She’s inspecting your gadgets”. I decided to call her Gidgette, a combination of gadget and widget.

And here’s Ivory loving on her a few days later…

Not that she loves on her anymore. Ivory is more likely to smack Gidgette on the head.

And here’s Gidgette today…

Hello all!

My name is Kathryn. I live in suburban Cleveland. I have 2 cats, who are my kids. I work in early childhood education, specializing in infants at a local childcare center. I’ve also worked with preschoolers and school aged kids there. I used to be an ESL teacher in South Korea.

I love to bake. My coworkers get to be my taste testers. I enjoy coloring, and I even participate in a coloring Meet Up group. I’m a fan of all kinds of music, but country is my favorite. My kitties, Gidgette and Ivory, are my favorite models for my photography. I play around with photo editors to create what I call “Works of Art”. I’m not very good at it, but I do it anyway.

Please visit me at Mighty Kool Kat. You can find my links to social media there.
